Exploring New Mediums

Exploring New Mediums

I love all aspects of artistic creation. I know many artists that find a particular style or particular medium and they stick with that. I don't particularly think there's anything wrong with that, but it's not for me.

I constantly feel the desire to explore and learn new techniques, mediums, outlets for creativity...some things I'm just not into and others I fall madly in love with...such is the case with being a silversmith...if you would have told me a year ago I would be making silver jewelry I probably would have laughed...and then said, I could see that.

In addition to working with metal, I have also become quite fond of watercolor. I love how it forces me to let go and paint loosely. Watercolor has been difficult for me as I learned acrylics first which is way different than watercolor. With watercolor you have to paint from light to dark and you can only paint wet into wet and wet into dry...and once you've made a mistake it can be difficult to cover up.

I hope I continue exploring new mediums and remain eager/excited to learn and grow as an artist and a human being.
